Assume You Are Always Being Recorded

In the age of smartphones, I am always amazed that policemen will beat or kill suspects in full view of dozens of cameras. I can understand overreaction to confrontations with bad actors, but you have to assume getting away with it is more difficult than ever.

With revelations about the NSA, you have to assume every phone call and email is being recorded and collected.

All of them.

Not even the East German Stasi or the State Security Department of North Korea has or had such reach.

People need to be smart. You can’t fight it. Just act like Pauli in Goodfellas and don’t use the phone for anything important.
